Nothing lasts forever. All things will end. Our sun has a best before date, and already our planet had many extinction events. This is good! Imagine if all things last forever! We will not have a working economy, and nothing will be recycled or replaced. Innovation will stop, progress might stagnate or even stop. With nothing but time on their hands many people will go crazy. It is good that everything and everyone has a fixed amount of time allotted. The secret to a successful life might simply be us using this time, and not wasting it.

If there is one truth no one can bend,
it must be that everything eventually will end.
Only time herself seems to go on forever,
but even that is questioned by those considered clever.

All things appear to come with an expiration date;
love, life, pain and strife all meet the very same fate!
everything has an end, and sometimes it’s right around the next bloody bend,
unknown, unimaginable and unseen, until without mercy it is rend!

Life makes way for death and love like milk turn sour,
things grow old and fragile and fail and break by the hour.
This is not an evil plot by a god behaving like a mad man,
but simply the effect of time washing over us, like water cutting through hardpan.

Please, let us not fear, but rather rejoice that the end is always near.
Accept that all things must and will eventually rip and shear,
then use the time we get between start and sorrow,
and live and love like there is no tomorrow!

  1. It’s so easy to get side tracked sometimes…
