I am in South Africa visiting friends and family. On day one I did not think I can stay here the planned three weeks. Day two I felt better and then became depressed again when I saw my hometown. It is in a terrible state, the roads are awful, traffic lights do not work and people ignore the rules of the road. Everyone surrounds their home with steel walls and electric fences. The houses have steel doors inside and out that made me think of a jail. People live in cages due to crime and violence. Racism is rampant, and discrimination against white people and immigrants is blatant. The world does not seem to care. The media lie to themselves and us about conditions here, just like they lied about Joe Biden’s health. We live in a world of lies. Still the sun shines on it all. Shit, now I feel depressed again.
Unblinking and without a choice,
the sun looks on forever watching.
Seeing the turmoil with so much death and lying,
knowing that people are no better than self destructing noise.
As the hate and violence continues to grow,
the sun pumps out it’s never ending glow,
doing it’s best to give heat and light,
so people can see the shit that makes them fight,
and hopefully learn to understand their plight.
Unfortunately all this effort and grind,
brings little peace and no clarity of mind.
It only leads to more divide and malcontent,
as fear from climate change on the world descend.
The sun keeps on watching this spinning blue orb,
unable to look away and wishing for the next eclipse,
always offering its energy for the world to absorb,
unknowingly helping the world on its path,
to the apocalypse.
