When I was young I had things I do not have today. I had time. I had hair! I had lots of ambition! Ambition is good when it motivates us to achieve goals. It drives us to work hard and sacrifice now, so we can reap the benefits later. It becomes a problem when it turns into an obsession. Always want more for yourself, but also know when you have something good in hand already, and take care of it. Life is a balancing act between work and play and needs and desires. Get the balance right!

Beset by that powerful condition
to a achieve a certain desire,
that thing called ambition
can burn hot like hell fire.

We loose all sight and become totally focused
on a single goal, need or desire.
Everything else stay completely unnoticed,
our whole being consumed by that we require.

Time however does not slow or stop.
As we expend ourselves chasing that goal,
we grow older and harder on the way to the top
sometimes to arrive there at the cost of our soul.

Seems that the only thing we should chase
is living and loving and children beget,
then at the end of life we might rest our case,
knowing we lived a live with little regret.

I do not know for certain
and I do not bloody care!
I am still busy chasing the perfect version
of me that is still somewhere out there.
