I am nearing the end of my career. I have worked on two continents in both hemispheres of this pretty planet. I am fortunate that my work has always been indoors, and challenging, fulfilling and rewarding. It has also been stressful, irritating, all consuming and intrusive. I had success and failure, I have seen laughter, tears, panic and once a fistfight. I spent most of my life in the office, and lots of time at home working. I loved every moment, I still do. Here is a little poem that touches on some of the reasons we work, and what we experience there.
I owe, I owe
its off to work I go
I owe money to many
and food and shelter
to my family
at work I take abuse
and often I am him
who others mistreat
disrespect and use
I do this every day
for these debts I have to pay
always hopeful that one day
I can have more time for play
until that day
I work for pay
while secretly I yearn
my freedom to earn
so I swallow my pride
and jump into my ride
and off to work I go
I owe, I owe
I owe
