Sometimes the past will not stay where it belongs. Often we find our thoughts return to past events or experiences, and it disturbs and disrupts our calm. Maybe this means that there is something to be learned from these haunting memories. If only we can separate these recollections from the accompanying emotions, enabling us to look at it clinically and then analyze it coldly and take from it that which we can use. This might help us to forgive past transgressions and the very transgressors. Often it is us ourselves that we need to forgive. Cut yourself and others some slack! It is hard to be human amongst other humans who also find it challenging to be human amongst you all. Remember that you are other people’s other people.
Today is nothing more than tomorrow’s yesterday,
and today still shine because it is wholly mine.
Yesterday is done and often cast in infamy,
now history outside my available and finite time.
This forward flow of life is true for us all,
yet for many the past is a heavy chain and ball!
Unable to look away the past forever holds sway,
their lives delayed, anchored by days gone astray.
A straight line to trace requires three points in space;
past, present and future we all should face and embrace.
From back there, through here and now, into that future where!
We must dare to consider it all with equal care.
Lessons from the past reveal goals for tomorrow,
to be used today to decide action from past sorrow.
At first you might not get it completely right,
but seeing failure in this new light is part of the fight so try with might and develop valuable insight!
Life is for the living and the living flows with time,
live, love, fail and adjust, this we absolutely must!
Then life becomes grand because we dare take a stand
and learn that our happiness is created by our own hand.
