As I write this I have no desire to get up and do something exciting, yet I know that I must. To have an interesting and exciting life we must do interesting and exciting things. Even though my poem suggests we must use every second to be alive, being alive also includes being still. I want to be still at the moment, so I will be still. Between the still moments we really ought to live as much as we can. Do things, see places, eat something new or learn another language. Ponds that are always still become uninhabitable. Stir your pond from time to time and instill oxygen and life! Aim to utilize every second, that will ensure we use some to its fullest extent.
On the infinite line of time
we each get just a tiny slice.
This slice of time demands a price,
and ultimately we pay for it with our life.
Such a costly thing must be used,
and every second should be perused.
Many do little with their time in life,
and simply settle as a worker, a husband or a wife.
Those that value every second
accomplish feats that are the stuff of legend!
While others do little to nothing,
and envy those whose lives are stunning.
We each get the same size slice,
and in the end we pay exactly the same price.
What makes a life amazing or simply spent,
is what we do between start and end.
Get up, get out, go live, be alive!
Do you want to excel or just survive?
Use your gift, now, the present,
and live your life unreticent!
