I am curious if the human race was able to achieve all it has simply because humans are never satisfied with what they have or know. Do a thing and later regret it, or don’t do it at all, and always wonder what could have been. Before the internet made access to everything possible, people might have been able to be content with what they have, because it was all they knew. Once you become aware of something you perceive as better, something in our nature makes us want it. Eve from the Christian bible ate from the ‘tree of knowledge’, and Adam gladly participated. After this paradise was no longer enough! Seems to me the only way to be happy is to be oblivious to alternative ways of living, but because we see all the alternatives all the time, we are constantly faced with the feeling that there is more, and we are missing out! We each have to decide for ourselves if that is true or not.

Who are totally happy with all their choices,
who always have contented inner voices?
I’ve never met anyone without any regret,
and you might be one of them, like me, I bet.

I should have saved more money,
I should have married my youth time honey,
I should have remained unmarried,
I should have lived my life unhurried.

The married feel they should have stayed single,
nobody knows if that choice was pure and simple.
And the single regret they never married,
all the time between being born and buried.

I should have never had kids,
I should have recorded more of their lives on pics and vids,
I should have always had multiple dogs,
I should have never kissed all those frogs.

Life should be measured very mindfully,
and always remember this old truth carefully:
You are damned if you do, and damned if you don’t,
and life will make shit happen,
even if you won’t!
